copy archive email to network file share
I am new to this company and we need to make copies of selected archive emails as PST FILES to a central network file share. How can I do this? Is there a document that outlines this process?

You need to log into your SourceOne Search application, locate the emails you want to copy(better known as restore) and restore them. Here is my process.
1. Identify what needs to be looked for
2. Create a Personal Folder where I can restore the emails too in my mailbox, i.e Jane Doe August to Dec Emails
3. Log into the SourceOne Search application
4. Search for Jane Doe's August to December Emails
5. Restore those emails to the Jane Doe August to Dec Emails folder I created
6. Since I we use Notes, create an .NFS databse, similar to a PST and open it in my mail client
7. Copy the emails from the personal folder into the NFS database
8. Provide whomever with access to the NFS file
9. Copy it to a network share.
This process should not take you longer than 10 or 15 minutes.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much for your reply. I should have mentioned that we have emailXtender 4.8. Is the process the same or very similar?

Do a search using the user client, right click and export to PST.

So your searching with the EmailXtender Search client? If so, once you have your search results, just highlight all the emails you want to restore and right click and select the "Restore Selected Message(s) to PST/NFS files". Give the file a name and save location and your golden.
You can then copy this database to a network share for whomever to access.
Hope this helps

Documentation is available on EMC Powerlink
http://powerlink.emc.com (You will need a login or request an account)
Once on Powerlink you will find the Admin Guide and other related EmailXtender Docs under:
FYI, EmailXtender is End of Life 1st Quarter of 2012
You should look at upgrading to SourceOne which isthe software is free if you are under current maintenance for EmailXtender.

Yes, go to http://powerlink.emc.com (if you do not have an account, create it one) This has all of EMC support information, documentation, opening service request, white papers, software downloads, etc etc
Go to Support > Software Downloads and Licensing > Downloads E-I > EmailXtender. Select your version of software and download the package. Inside the package you will find the varies guides, Admin, Install, Search, etc
