adding external hard drive question
I had a Dell Inspiron 518 with Vista OS, It had power supply issues, so i took out the HD and put it in an external case and am now trying to run it on my Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop. I have no idea how to be able to access anything, as Windows 8 blocks everything I try to open. Can someone assist me with this? I did go in and change the properties to have full control but that didn't work. I would like to be able to boot from my old hard drive, or is that possible?? Thanks

Hi 2Buddy4u,
I think all you need are the "how to take ownership" instructions.
And no, you cannot boot your laptop to an OS on an external drive.

Thank you for your help. On the Advanced Security Settings for local disk, mine does not have a "change permissions" tab. Now what?

I got passed that and changed ownership, but I am still getting an error that says error occured while supplying security information. Failed to enumerate objects in the container, access denied. Any ideas??
