adding second hard drive to e510

Question

hello all first post i just got a new dell today e510 my first dell desktop and i wanted to put in my old sata hd from my old computer i brought a new data cable cause the old one was too short. i plugged everything in but the computer cant seem to read the drive. but when i use a controller card to connect an ide drive it will read it. i dont know much about hard drives and especially sata drives but there is over a 100gig of stuff that i want from this old hd. can someone tell me wat i can do? or wat am i doing wrong? any info would be appreciated. thank you very much.

Did you turn the drive on in BIOS (F2)?
