another 8200 cdrw problem

I think that my cdrw isn't recognized by XP although it is recognized by Roxio ... its a TEAC , but I can;t find the driver for it on the Dell site ... I think there is some issue with XP SP2 and CDRW's, but Microsoft doesn;t seem to have a hotfix for it ... any ideas????

Start looking into software updates. Your burning software might need updating for a start. Maybe there is a firmware upgrade for the CDRW.  I don't understand if the software sees the drive then Windows is seeing it also.
Start checking the Windows settings. Some drives have to have digital checked this is in the properties of the drive Device Manager is the easiest place to look. Mine has been checked on both drives I've had in my 8200.

If you are using ROXIO Easy CD Creator 5, it will not work reliably with
Windows XP SP2.  Some or all functionallity will be lost.  Version 5 is
over 4 years old and will not be updated by ROXIO.  Version 7 is the
current product and Version 6 is also compatible with SP2.
