BD doesn't always load DVD/CDs

I have only a Blu Ray drive in my xps 420 and it's supposed to be able to load cds/dvds as well. Regardless of the medium i insert, it will either not immediately recognize that there is something in the tray, or it won't recognize it at all. This poses a problem when i'm trying to do ANYTHING since it is my only drive.  Where do i get the latest drivers for this BD. and how do i know which ones i need? Also I've found that my computer is generally slow at opening most programs eventhough it is rated at a 5.5 with the windows experience index.

4GB ram

32 bit vista

intel core 2 quad cpu Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 2.39GHz (45 celsius on a pretty regular basis)

ive run CCleaner, Webroot Spy Sweeper.

Itunes can take up to 5 minutes to open, and ocassionally my FF browser takes 3 minutes. i have 302GB free of 465GB

If there is any one else with an XPS 420 bluray drive experiencing things like this, please let me know what to do!

Hi, Thebluemuzzy:

It certainly sounds like an autoplay problem. The next time you insert a disc and no program starts automatically, try opening the disc in My Computer and see if your DVD program starts. Or if it's a CD, try browsing the disc in My Computer.
