Assuming you were running the hard drive test, then, yes, it's time to replace your hard drive. The most frequently recommended strategy for getting your data off is to use an external drive enclosure.

Osprey, thank you for all of your help.    I didn't receive a windows disk or a recovery disk with my PC when I purchased it.   How do I install windows and all of my other applications and drivers from my old disk if I can't get it to boot?

Are you saying that I should purchase a new hard drive and an external drive enclosure, install the new drive and then transfer the data?   Any suggestions on a hard drive or enclosure?

Any SATA drive will do for your replacement and you'll want to get an enclosure for an SATA drive.

Try to buy either a SATA Seagate, Western Digital. Avoid Maxtor, unless it's one of the new Seagate/Maxtor drives.

Check the lenght of the warranty, there's one to five years [Seagate] on hard drives.

Check out the following external SATA enclosure Here and list of SATA enclosures Here, plus this USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Adapter.

Bev.
