Blue Screen with Error Code 0F00:0244..Please help.

I received the blue screen of death today and I can't boot windows even in any mode.   I ran diagnostics and I get error code 0F00:0244.   From what I have read on other posts it sounds like I should replace the hard drive.   Is this correct?   If so, how can I get my data off of the drive?   Is there any way to get it to boot so that I can burn the data to DVD?  Please help.
