Boot doesn't detect drives for SSD.
Hello!
I purchased a Dell Inspiron 7567 yesterday, and had nothing but troubles ever since. I tried swapping the Toshiba SSHD with which it came with an Intel 530 SSD. From the boot menu it doesn't recognize the disks, so installing windows can't be done. I tried using it in legacy mode with an MBR formatted USB (Because the SSD was originally formatted to MBR). I tried swapping the system from MBR to GPT from the cmd, switched out the USB to GPT as well, changed the bios to UEFI, nothing changes. I tried installing windows on a different machine, there it worked like a charm. In few cases the boot menu saw two partitions but every time I tried to delete them and create new ones it said that access is denied.
Finally I installed windows on the SSHD with which the laptop came, but this really isnt an option.
I will go through what I have done, if that may help anyone who has an idea.
- Tried to install through MBR in Legacy mode without secure boot
- Tried to install through GPT in UEFI mode with and without secure boot
- Updated the SSD's firmware
- Updated the bios firmware (through the toshiba SSHD)
- Tried installing windows on a different machine, there it worked, but when I put the SSD back in the Inspron it freezes on the DELL logo on intial boot.
- Tried downloading the SSD's drivers through intel's website, and tried pressing "Load Drivers" in the partition selection of windows install (After working for a bit it says that it didn't detect drivers and that there still is no disk detected.)
I'm honestly running out of ideas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
