Boot error message

I have an XPS Gen 4 using RAID.  There is an intermittent boot error message that pops up as follows: Drive 5 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-1 (PRI IDE Slave).  When press F1 to continue, the computer completes the boot and Win XP appears to operate normally.  Any ideas?

Do you have a drive connected there? If not, go into setup and disable the channel.

Yes, there is a Philips DVD drive there.  I did the Dell diagnostics tests on the drive and cables and all checked out normal.

Hello, I have the exact same problem with my gen5,also when I go to the device manager, drive 5 is in pio mode and will not go to dma. This is causing slow coping speeds, if you get any info on how to fix this please let me know.Thanks,M71B
