It's definitely something other than vibration. I'll try your suggestion.

Seriously though it sounds like something may be loose and vibrating. To steady your nerves I suggest you run the Dell diagnostic program to check out your hard drive.

Turn OFF the Infrared port in the BIOS.

Infrared is disabled.
