Cable for internal cd/dvd drive (very special query)

Hi,
A member of my family is affected by a physically handicaping disease, and I'd like to make the cd drive easier to reach (especially the "eject" button) by "externalizing" it...
My laptop is a Latitude D620 but I guess that the connector for the cd bay is standard?
Does anyone know how and where I could look for such an "extension" cable?
Thanks in advance
Chris (France)

have you considered just getting an external usb2 drive case and using a standard desktop optical drive in it?

the buttons will be larger and more user friendly...

btw the cable you're looking for probably doesn't exist.

Yep! I've made the same conclusions, no existing cable and an external drive, but I'm curious and kind of unrich ;o).
I can also see an other use of this cable: a friend is doing a multimedia box, looking like an amplifier and containing the inner part of a laptop + other devices (additionnal hd...). A great recycling for my former computer (screen is broken) , but how to 'externale' the different parts that need to remain accessible?? Easy for the usb ports / no problem with the screen / problem with the sound button / big problem with the drive...
This cable, if existing, would be great!

ccccc77, why do you need this - if you right-click on the cdrom drive and select 'eject', the drive will open.
Using hotkeys, you can assign a keystroke to open the drive.

Alternatively, a button fixed to the eject on the cdrom drive will do the trick. Cheap and effective.

There also is voice recognotion software that enables opening the drive by voice command, but that is more expensive than a external usb drive..
