Cannot access hard drive

I installed Partition Commander 8 on my desktop andeverything worked out OK but when I installed it on my Dell Inspiron1100 I got a message  "Could not access Hard Drive" I tried to uninstall the programme but I got the same message  I have reinstalled the programme. but no change.

I wondered if I should try and delete the programme through the delete facility which I normally try and avoid.

Any ideas please?

Thistle,

I would try deleting the program if I was faced with that problem.

Thistle, you may need to boot to the XP cd and choose to do a repair.

I forgot to say that I have tried deleting the software but I still get the same message "Not able to read your hard disk properly.

I have been advised by VCOM (supplier of Partition Commander) toenter BIOS  and change the boot order to boot the CD ROM before the Hard Drive, then physically boot up with the Partition Commander CD. Then see if it is able to access the Partition \Tools.

I will try this first before doing something with the system disk

I changed the boot order to start the CD ROM before the hard drive and used Partition Commander to boot the PC.

It worked so I can use the software. Unfortunately if I try to use the programme after loading Win Xp I get the same message which is a nuiscance but I can live with it.

Nice to get a solution though
