Cannot write to CD drives in Explorer

Hi. I have a Demension 9150 and I cannot write to CDs from explorer. From applications such as ITunes etc I can burn disca without any problem. In exploerer however I am not given an option to burn to CD.

Any ideas what i can do to rectify this? I have tried re-instaling the hardware and updating the drivers but to no avail.

Thanks,

Andy

Thanks for your reply.

I have uninstalled Sonic in order to write to disc normally. I could not get on with Sonic - seemed an over complicated way of perfoming a simple task.

Is there a way of re-enabling CD burning within Explorer...or will I have to install Sonic again?

Thanks for your help.

If you have Sonic DLA installed, it will disable the Windows CD burning wizard.

Keep in mind there are two Sonic programs. DLA is the packet writing program, Recordnow is the regular burning program.

OK, with respect to burning CDs in Explorer, check drive properties and make sure CD recording is enabled in the Recording tab.

I have enabled the CD drive for recording in my laptop and disabled DLA. I can write to the CD with no problem. When I use the CD in my other Dell desktop it can read the CD with no problem, but when I try to write to it using Explorer it says it is read-only. If I take the same CD back to the original laptop it can still add files. Is there a way to have the CD be writeable using Explorer on multiple computers?

Interesting question. I'll look into it.
