CD burning

This is maddening, When trying to burn pics on to a BLANK CD-R , I keep getting "This CD-RW format is not supported, please insert a different disc to continue" message. We've burned several dozen (CD-Rs) already on this and would like to continue as this is the more stable format for long term storage. What's really bizarre is I can take a used CD-R with space remaining and it will write flawlessly to that disc. We've updated the Zoombrowser to 6.1.1, Roxio media creator 9.0.088. We're on a Dell XPS 400, Windows XP OS And the drives are HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GSA-H21N Type DVD/CD-R & TSST Corp. CD-RW TS-H292C Type DVD/CD-R. I think I've hit all the easy fixes and checks I can find tho my computer literacy is rather limited. Anyone else seen this or have any suggestions?

Hi, Gregory:

And you're burning pictures to a CD-R using what program? Since that program is giving you the error, it's important to know what it is.
