My advice is quit using direct cd. You can accomplish the same with Easy CD Creator data project and much more reliable. This feature is usually included with all versions of Roxio. By using this program rather than direct cd you do not format a cd, you add the pictures to the cd and burn and choose to close the session but leave the cd open. By doing this you may add more pictures later to the same cd until full or cd is closed. In the mean time with the session closed the cd can be read on regular cd drives and will remain reliable. Also the direct cd feature of early versions of Roxio can cause conflicts with other programs on your computer. I now use Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.xxx without Direct Cd installed and do not miss it at all and have eliminated a lot of other problems that were occurring on my computer.
thanks Jimmy. you say you're using Easy CD Creator 5.something... sounds like an upgraded version of what I have- is there a free download of this? I have to tell ya- I used easy cd creator during one of my attempts and I'm not sure that all was fine with it as you mentioned, but I'll try it again.
There are free updates for Roxio 5.0 Easy CD Creator but no free downloads. However there are two newer versions of Roxio the latest being Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0 that is designed to work with DVD burning as well as CD's. You're version should be able to work with data without using the direct cd option. Hope this helps a little, I have experienced the same frustration with direct cd before giving up on it.
I agree with Jimmy on the use of Roxio`s Mastering program over Direct CD. I do believe Roxio still has the latest update for version 4 on their web site. I have some of Roxio`s support articles listed on the CD/RW if per chance you wanted to review them. Starts around Section 25 and goes through Section 47.
Best Regards
