CD DVD drive getting error code 39

Question

I have a new Dell 1525 with vista.  The cd/dvd drive shows in the device manager and properties is giving the following error: Drive:TSST corp DVD+-RW TS-L632H ATA Device   Windows could not load device driver forthis hardware.  The driver may be corruptedor missing (code 39).   Drive does not show in my computer.   I tried to reload the driver from the built in web search with no luck. Still got the same error.   What to do next?

I just had this happen to my Inspiron Laptop.  Skybird directed me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/EN-US/ which solved the problem.  I have XP, so it might not work for Vista.   Good Luck!

I have an Inspiron 1720 with the same cd/dvd player and the same error code 39.  I tried the solution and it worked.  I did not have the upper filters so I only deleted the lower filters. Thanks
