CD & DVD Not Working

Question

Please help!  I have a 1 year old Dimension 8400 with a Sony CD-RW drive and a TEAC DVD RW drive.  Both stopped working (the trays open, the green lights come on, it just won't recognize anything is there). I'm running Windows XP.    When I tried to do troubleshooting it says can't find h/w device code 41.   Any thoughts/help would be much appreciated...and I'm not a techie so be nice!
