CD PARTLY REFORMATTED - LOST DATA

When our Inspiron was re-starting, SOnic DLA automatically began to reformat the CD which was in the drive.

The CD contained valuable family photographs, which no longer appear to be viewable.

In the chance that some of the pictures are still saved on the disc, how can we get the computer to access them?

Thanks,

JJ and Dee

You may be able to recover some, or all, of the files using ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com).

You can also try CD/DVD Diagnostic (http://www.infinadyne.com/). They have a free trial download which will tell you if any files can be recovered.

Dave,

You're a star - Isobuster has worked a treat, with all the images recovered.

Thank you for your help,

Cheers, mate,

Did you ever determine why the format occurred without your starting it? This happened to me twice -- I'd rather it not happen again!

As far as I could work out - and I'm no expert - Sonic DLA kamikazied into reformatting the disc.  I thought it best just to get Sonic DLA of my computer, as it's been nothing but hassle.  The last few times before that, it has failed to finish reformatting discs, taking something like 20 minutes, then restarting.

Forget about it!
