CD-ROM drivers

Hi, I have hl-dt-st CD-RW GCE-6487B and LITE-ON CD-ROM LTN-4895.  Where can I find drivers for these?  Thanks, Mindy

Hi Mindy,

The drivers are generic to your Operating system, so basically there are none to find.
Are you having problems, any error codes in Device Manager, etc...?

Best Regards!

Hi Jeff,

Thanks so much for responding.  For whatever reason yesterday I tried playing a CD in my computer, and the computer isn't recognizing either the CD-ROM or the DVD drives.  I haven't done anything to my computer so I'm dumbfounded.  I have tried updating  the drivers in system, hardware, device manager , update driver and it comes back with it can't find a better match but why isn't my computer recognizing either drive?

Thanks,
Mindy

PS.  I like your end quote!  :)

Hi Mindy,

Thanks about the quote, kinda like it myself.
Go to Device Manager again, select the CD drive and click uninstall, then select the DVD drive, click uninstall and shutdown, not restart. Open the case and reseat (unplug / replug) the IDE cable (flat wide gray cable) going from the motherboard to the back of the drive. You did not list the model Dell you have but your manual should give you directions on opening the case and such.
See if this helps.

Best Regards

Hi Jeff,

I followed your directions but it's still not recognizing those drives.  Any other suggestions?

Did you come up with that quote yourself?

Hi Mindy,

My web server is still down and I am lost without it here at work.
Try clearing the NVRAM. Here is the Dell article:
Dell article

If this does not help, you may have one bad drive and it is effecting both. You may need to test each drive as the only devie on the cable.

No, I cannot take credit for the quote, my brother sent it to me, where he got it, I do not know.
