cd rom not working, driver files missing

Neither my cd rom or my cd burner are working. I get a message when trying to use eithr that the driver files are corrupted or missing. In order for me to re-install the drivers i need the cd rom to work--the files are on cd. I have tried to download them off the internet but trying to find the correct driver file is like finding a needle in a haystack. Anyone have any ideas??

Hi Lauramlee,

I addressed your post in the Dimension-General Hardware conference, which I should have known better not to.
Let me cover an issue, your drivers are generic to your Operating System and in the GH conference you mentioned the Code 39 error.
We have seen this error hundreds of times in here, this is related to the Upper & Lower Filters, even though the Dell and Microsoft article may mention Roxio, it can happen with any third party program. Again, Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 12, article 10 for the Dell article, should correct your problem.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.
