Thanks Jim....so what you are saying is the cd-disk will always be read only. These are files I did on my computer at home and I am trying to take and load on my machine at work. Is there any way I can do this? I am not familiar with packet writing.
I am trying to save some files to a CD-RW disk and when I open them on the disk they say "Read Only". How do I change this so I can edit these files on the disk.
The media has absolutely nothing to do with this, it is controlled by software.
All Data projects will always be Read Only, that is the way optical media works.
Packet writing is a way to make optical media behave like a big floppy. Once formatted to use that way it can only be used by a packet writer (Drag to Disc, InCD, DLA).
However no packet writer has ever been accused of being reliable. They fail without warning and you lose most or all of the data…
Once you have the files downloads to your work PC, right click on one, select Properties, under Attributes remove the check mark from Read Only.
Seasons Greetings!
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the difference. CD/RW Link
Thank you predator. They gave me a new pc at work without the 3.5 disk and my files were on that so I had to copy to CD disk and Boom "Read Only". God Bless you and I will try it tomorrow.
