Cd-Rw drive

In the process of dragging a picture file to my E-drive to burn it, the computer froze and so I rebooted the computer but the E-drive does not work! I can't open it and when I open [ My Computer ] my E-drive is not even listed anymore. Any suggestions on a fix? Thanks.

Restart your computer. If you only have one operating system on your computer, when you are starting up, hit F8. Choose safe mode. Right-click my computer>properties>device manager. Go to CD-ROM and see if there is your E drive there (if you have more than one Disk drive, you need to know the name of your E drive, or just delete them all), Try deleting the drive. Restart, go into windows normaly, and it should recognize your drive, install software, it may ask you to restart, and *hopefully* you'll have your E drive back.

Hi Jebbers,

Please, click on the CD/RW link in my post and srcoll to Section 15, article 1. This article covers the use of Device Manager, depending on your OS you will Uninstall or Remove and re-boot. This can be done without having to boot in Safe Mode, Windows will re-detect the drive and install the proper drivers.
If this does not help, then try Section 20, article 3; Section 11, article 2. (same CD/RW link)

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.
