Hi Tootie,
Congrats on the new PC. You will need a drive that supports DVD`s, example DVD-ROM, DVD/CD/RW combo drive (one that reads DVD and writes to CD-R & CD-RW media) or a DVD burner.
The 48X max CD/RW you listed is most likely a standard CD/RW drive, however if you list the model name, someone can verify this for you. Easy way to check, go to Device Manager, click the "+" next to DVD/CD/RW drives and tell us what it says.

Dell has additional DVD drives for purchase but you may also purchase a retail drive. Majority of the Retails drives always come with a DVD player, example WinDVD, if you purchase from Dell, request the DVD software as well.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.
