Hi Frank,

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!
May I ask are you refering to article 1 or 3 in Section 15?
Article 1 is one the basic standard steps Dell or actually anyone should have you try. Then possibly Section 20, article 3 & Section 11, article 2. Hopefully this seems to be driver issue since it worked in the past.
Some Members have been recommending XP Restore Feature, roll the system back to a date before this happened.

Seasons Greetings!

Jeff,

I had a good Thanksgiving.  Two of my three come with their familes (one is a Katrina evacuee) and I made Turducken which is a chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey, all deboned.  Thanks  How about your TG?

Yes I meant 15-3.

Here is where I stand.  I did 15.3 to allow Multimedia to show under Device Manager.  It didn't show on the list.  I double checked sysoc that the word HIDE was deleted and that the two commas were in place.  I rebooted.  Still no Multimedia shown.

I did 20-3 uninstalling the primary Channel and having it reinstall on reboot.

The problem still exists.  Here are the symptoms.

I put in a full size disk and it spins up.  I click on the drive and the list of files appears.  No problem.

I put in a mini disc.  When I close the drawer, the disc appears attached to the cursor and the green light comes on.  It's trying to find the disc.  After a while the disc goes away.  After that the green light goes away.  I click on the drive and it says Please Insert Disk.

How is the processing of a mini-disc different from a full disc?  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Frank

Hi Frank,

I would have liked to have tried that dish !!
We had almost all the family together, it was nice!

To my knowledge, size is about the only difference especially if the drive has recognized them in the past.
I am assuming you checked the disc for finger prints, scratches, etc...
also what is the name/model of the drive in question, have you checked Dell`s site for a possible firmware update?

Seasons Greetings!

Jeff,

The mini-discs are from a digital movie camera.  Guess what!  Computers can't read these directly.

After all else failed, I read the directions.  Put the disc in the camera and connect the camera to the computer via USB.  Voila, it worked!

Sorry for my non-problem but I enjoyed learing about CD/RW link.  And I thank you for your help.
