CD/DVD Driver Not Working

Hi,

I own an Inspiron 9300 that I've had for over a year and it just started not being able to read any CDs or DVDs or other forms of media. It worked just a couple of days ago. I've tried the Dell's Support stuff, but none of it helped and according to the self test it should work. If anybody knows anything I could try it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Annie

On the right hand side of the window, click LowerFilters.

once you have done that:

Please perform these steps now :

You will see the device manager window.

1.       Click the plus (+) sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
2.       Right-click to highlight the Secondary IDE Channels, and then left-click Uninstall in the pop-up menu.
3.       Click Yes to confirm the device removal.

Whats the latest firmware for the TSSTcorp TS L632D DVD+-RW drive??
Sonic burning software shows that the firmware installed is DE03. Also, the current transfer mode is PIO, although first choice is DMA.
Any idea why DMA is not being used?

Any suggestions??
Would appreciate the help since my notebook was bought in the US and Dell won't provide support in India.

Thanks,
Lalit.
