Clean Start
I want to remove/delete everything on my hard drive and reload everything. Do anyone know the steps or have instructions?
I have a Dimension 2100 with Windows Me as the operating system. I want to do this because my resources are very low {46%} and it seems that too many programs are running in the background. I have reset the start programs to run the minimum programs, but there was no improvement. Also the Dell help line is always busy and I choose not to wait an hour or longer for support any longer.
If there is someone who can help

Hi,
First, how much RAM do you have in your system? If you are running with 128MB or less it would definitely speed things up if you upgrade to at least 256MB. What exactly do you mean by resetting the start programs to minimum? Did you run MSCONFIG to do this? If you would like to reinstall Windows ME you will have to restart your computer with the original CD for Windows in the CD drive and choose to boot from CD by presssing the space bar just after you see the Dell logo at startup. Then it will ask you a series of questions and you will want to reformat your drive which will erase everything. Once the reinstall is complete, you will have to go to the Dell support website or your Dell drivers CD and reinstall all of the drivers (Chipset, audio, video, etc.) to get the system working properly. Although not difficult, this is not easy to get everything installed properly. If you are having problems once you reinstall Windows, post back and I will try and guide you the best I can.
Hope this helps!
