Computer Lock Up While Running CD/DVD

I have a Dimension 2400 to which I added an Iomega usb CD/DVD [HOTBURN].  It works well for a while, makes a nice foto cd, but at a certain point it locks up the computer, forcing turning it off at the tower.  This happened 3 or 4 times today.  An Iomega tech told me that if there are two cd burning programs there can be problems.  I found I did have two, uninstlled the non-Iomega one, but the problem still persists...  Is it due to lack of memory, or what?  I'd sure appreciate some help with this...  mn
