Does the BIOS see the hard drive? If not, reseat the cables. Still not detected? It's dead - call Dell for a warranty replacement.

I've had the [descriptor2 loading..... done] and then nothing, so I thought. I wonder how many have had their hard drives 'recovered' and lost all information, when, if they just waited, everything would return to normal and the system start?  By chance, the first time this happened, my computer started after a while.. and I thought support had done it.  Today, the same thing happened.. got the descriptor message.. and after several unsuccessful attempts to restart the system.. decided to give it time to start.  It's hard to not push buttons.. but I walked away and watched tv... when I returned about 1/2 hour or so later, the system was up and running..... I'm supposed to 'recover' my hard drive information, and get help doing a 'system recovery' tomorrow.  Wow, am I glad I didn't give in, but stubbornly kept trying to get the system up and running.  By waiting, Windows (XP) finally loaded and my hard drive information is still intact.... yeah!!!  I hope this helps someone else.
