Computer won't boot up

Question

I have a Dell  Inspiron 8000 laptop that worked fine ..then one day it just stopped. I click on the power button and the power light and hard drive light come one..then I get the blue Dell logo and then it goes to a blank screen with a blinking white line...I can not get into the bios or setup...nothing seems to help.. . Is my hard drive bad?  I have no idea what kind of a hard drive to buy  can anyone help me?  The hard drive in there now is 30 GB  the computer is a PIII 850 Mhz 512 MB, and maybe it  is not even the hard drive...any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks

Try to reseat all equipments . HD , cd drive , memory , cpu ,floppy , video card etc... First try the HD .
