CPU Usage at 100%

For about two months now, the CPU Usage chart has been at 100%.
I'm definitely sure it was right before Winter Break that the problem started.

I've had this problem before and I was able to fix it with System Restore.

I've already tried to do System Restore and it told me that it could not restore.
I've tried two different days.

I havn't had time to call Dell Support; besides, I don't want to be stuck on the phone with someone for 2 hours waiting for the Windows Dagnostic test thing to end.

Please help!

posting your system specs and whether or not your system is free of viruses and malware would help.

Inspiron 6000. It's about 2 years old. 80 GB. Had a preplaced hard drive about 6 months ago.

I did the Housecall Trend Micro scan and it found a spyware, and I removed it. As for McAfee and Windows Blocker, nothing but a couple cookies.
No Events found!
