Look in the Device Manager .........

Click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives.  Right-click the drive and select Properties.
Is there an Error Code (number) present?

If there is not CD/DVD drives in the Device Manager, then Windows does not
know it is there.  This is usually cause by a poor connection.  Shutdown
your system and open it.  Remove the connectors to the back of the drive
and inspect them.  The flat ribbon cable is the data IDE cable and the
smaller one is power.

Trace the ribbon cable to the motherboard and ensure the connection there
is good.  Close the system and power ON and see if the problem clears.

That fix was on the money.  Followed your directions and there it was the power cord had disconneted.  Once I connected it the tray just slide out.  Thanks, that's some money I can put in the gas tank.
