D28 flash drive
I tried to flash the d28 drive , but it keeps giving me the message " aspi manager not found".
I tried tto flash it with the d28 hooked up only. Still no help. What can I do?

Hi Thomas,
When you say D28, I am going to assume this is the Philips D28 drive?!?
Consider using a brand new floppy or a freshly formatted one with no bad sector, download the firmware once more, let it created the files on the disc, leave the disc in the A: drive and re-boot.
Follow the directions. If you disconnected a second drive, make sure the "end" connection of the IDE cable is attached to the D28 drive.
Best Regards
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?releaseid=r74274&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19
1) Download "R74274.exe" to a specific location on your hard drive -- For example: c:\168update
2) Click on the executable, redirect the output to the same directory -- in this case c:\168update
3) The flash utility should start automatically
4) Ensure that the Philips D28 drive is identified as the target drive
5) Ensure that the firmware update is identified as m5a25168.ric
6) Remove media by ejecting tray; leave tray out, do not close tray
7) Select "next" and "start" to excute update
8) Reboot system to complete update

I've had the exact same problem; Dell advises me to flash my system bios to 09 first. Went to their link and there were two files there, wasn't sure which to use or in what order, so I sit here doing nothing!
I believe the D28 will still only write at 2.8x so I'll save my 8x DVD's for my second system which has a less tempermental drive!
Does anyone know if the RDram that came on my system (4T235) is ECC or non-ECC? Two different Dell sources gave me two different answers and I'd like to upgrade but hesitate to do so until I know if I need ECC or non-ECC.
