John,
Sorry my good buddy for the cut, Should have refreshed first, I am calling it a night, take care...
Hi Linda,
No, the software is not on the Resource disc, if Dell stayed true to form, it will be on a separate disc, PowerDVD is the software.
Best Regards!

Not that I can find. What disk would it be on? There is a Resouce CD and a Sonic CD. Nothing called Power DVD.
I took a look on my packing slip from July and it says I should have gotten somthing called Decoding Software, Power DVD, DIM. I think that is what you are referring to. They just got a nasty email. Geez. I have been working on this since 5 pm tonight eastern time. It is now 9:49 pm. Thanks.

Hi, Dell replied back and said that when they send CDs with the computer, they either get lost or broken, so they wait until you request them to send. The Power DVD software is on it's way to me. All of my software arrived in a nice neat package a week after we opened our box, I would guess it was just forgotten. Woops, kinda like they forgot to put that thing on the hard drive to make a copy of Windows if I ever need to reload. I think I lucked out and got a very nice tech though. He did everything. Are they supposed to do that? Linda
My Diminsion 4700 was received in late July 2005. It came with two really cute paper CDs. They stated that I will never need my original CDs. I can just use the System Restore or the Symantec PC Restore. If I wanted to create a copy of my operating system, just go to Start, Programs, Dell and click on whatever. Well, it wasn't there, so I sent an email informing them of that fact and requesting Original CDs for my computer. They were sent out to me, but I just never compared the Packing Slip with the CDs that I received. Another lesson learned. I am still glad that I bought a Dell. I probably will always buy Dell. We have a Dim 4100, Dim 4400 and a Dim 4700, plus an Inspiron 9300 and a Dell Gen 2 DJ. Within the next 15 months, I will probably buy another Dimension and an Axim. I do it all through my companies employee purchase program. If you time it just right with specials and coupons it pays off, but you gotta get the extended warranty. It beats going to Circuit City, Best Buy and Walmart by a good mile. My Dim 4100 is still going after more than 5 years, the Dim 4400 is running after 4 years. We had an HP Pavillion that pretty much was useless after 2 years and a Compag that basically did the same thing. :smileywink: Linda
The autoplay settings can be fixed in drive properties. My personal preference is to turn off autoplay for video and audio discs, since sometimes I want to view/listen and sometimes I want to make copies.
Dell did send me the Power DVD software that was omitted when I purchased my Dim 4700. It fixed the decoder error. However, Media Center will not auto play DVDs from the desktop. It will autoplay them if I open Media Center. From the desktop the Dell Media Experience does the auto play even though I change the defaults for the DVD player. The Dell Media Experience opens us to a full screen much quicker than the Media Center does anyway. Good Luck, Linda

Hi, Linda:
The decoder is your DVD player. You should have an installation disc for PowerDVD or something.

Linda:
When did you order your system? They haven't been sending discs for about a year.
"Lost or broken", huh? Sounds like the techies are getting new training in "creative excuses" (aka, bullhockey)!
