Decreasing hard disk size ??

Question

All, I have a new Dimension 2400 with a 160Gb Western Digital hard disk. At first 155 Gb was usable. As I wanted my system to run Windows XP Pro, I have upgraded my XP Home to the Pro version. During this installation I have deleted all the partitions (including a 55 Mb FAT partition) that were present. XP Pro worked fine, however my disk was 148 Gb in total after this action. To be sure I did not do anything wrong I have performed the re-install another time and split up my disk in two partitions, but now there is only 131 Gb left.... It is also strange that the C: drive says it is full for 3 Gb, but if I select all the maps in there they come to a total of 1.6 Gb. The other partition is working ok a first site. Does anyone recognize this problem and if so, what can I do about it? Thanks! Peter

The 160Gb was in my new system, which was indeed not what I had ordered. But as it is in there I would like to have the full usage :)

I already looked in Disk Management and the space has also decreased there. You are saying that it could be a chipset problem, so maybe I have to re-install drivers for the chipset?
