DELL 8300 Formatting problems

I have a 250G hard drive on my Dell 8300 -- when I formatted it -- it only recognized 125G. I have XP Pro loaded.  Can someone tell me hwo to get the other half?

You must use Windows XP, SP1.  If you formatted it from another OS, or with a Windows XP CD pre-SP1, you won't be able to use the rest of the drive until you've installed XP, SP1.

And I want to add that you will also need to enable big drive support in the WIndows XP registry.   It's part of XP SP1, but it is not enabled by default.

Here is a link to a free utility by Maxtor (Big Drive Enabler) that updates your registry to enable drives bigger than 137G:
