The hard drive is dead or dying. Replace it.

I Agree, the HDD is dying, get a replacement quickly.

I got a 160GB drive at Sam's club for $79.00 plus tax

I am gettng the same type of error but not all the time.
I also get an error that tells me the drive is not found on either channel, not even the dvd or cdrw drive. I tend to believe that maybe the controller is on it's way out.
I've done diagnostice on both hd's they check out fine.
Maxtor 160gb - Maxtor 60gb primary IDE
LITEON DVD DRIVE - LITEON CDRW DRIVE Secondary IDE
1024 mb rambus

My system is a Dimension 8200 with 2.53 P4 Dual OS. Windows XP Home SP1 and Red Hat 10 I'm using System Commander to boot with. Neither HD is original, It (the original 40gb) died many moons ago.

I've also reseated all drives and it still comes up. It used to be sparodic, once in a blue moon, but now it's doing it more often. What's the prognosis? BAD? The computer is out of warranty, so if it is the controller, is my only option a new MB?

Any Help would be appreciated.
