Device error code 41

Question

Dear forum: My CD-RW is not recognizing CDs in the bay and I tried all types, music, data, software etc.  I am getting a code 41 'Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)'  error on the devices manager property of the CD-RW.  I called DELL technical assistance and the person I talked to recommended that I re-install the windows OS.  After I ended our talk, I realized this was sort of a catch-22 because I need the CD drive to do re-installs.  Any suggestions on how I can fix the problem? Thanks in advance. System:  optiplex GX260, tag# F3RHZ11CDRW:  HL-DT-ST GCE8400B YT

Massive thanks for the pointer. The error code has gone away now and the drive reads and sings fine. Only prob now is that My Computer takes a long time to list the drives. Once again, thanks!
