Question

Hi   This computer was given to me.   It was full with virus etc. I formated the hard-drive, the person doesn't have the cds or anything. I forgot that you need a cd with DELL computers...   I was wondering if SOMEONE can please please please HELP ME...   http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=DIM_PNT_CEL_L___CX&os=W98&osl=EN   what devices do I need to download for each subject? How can I find out what I need for windows 98. Please help me...   as of right now, the modem, display, sound, etc are not working at all   please help

support.dell.com, enter the service tag number from the chassis, and choose Original Configuration for a list of as-shipped hardware. Then download.

Regulator52.   The configuration list, you downloaded from Dell is a copy of the packing slip/invoice of the parts installed at the time of shipping. Ie. the computer was shipped with a 15' monitor   Bev.

I can forward my hard-drive without a problem

but figuring out what to add from the list... is confusing... under modem they have about five or more devices, how do I figure how which one to add?

why did dell make this so difficult.

How would I know what to download.... Since this computer was given to me... I can't believe Dell was made like this... this is a major HEADACHE

that s^cks...

cause the computer doesn't have any form of internet connection...

it's pretty much dead... i tried to download some files to it... but i'm not downloading the right ones...

the display is currently at 16 bits, the modem isn't working...

this is horrible!

I'm not sure if this is going to work... but i'm going to restart and connect the harddrive to this computer and see if that helps....

As you cannot connect to a website, then try opening the and take an inventory of the parts installed.

Have you tried installing windows 98 and see if the system boots?
