That tells me you have a defective drive. Probably the eject mechanism is bad.

A replacement drive is not expensive and the replacement procedure is not terribly complicated.

Hi Dawnrenee,

Please reboot your computer and tap the F2 key to enter the BIOS. With the BIOS screen showing, try inserting a disc. Try a couple different ones. Let me know if you are able to insert a disc without the drive ejecting it.

Tapping F2 took me to the blue set up screen.  The only mention of BIOS was in the System Info container, and it said it it using BIOS A05.  I inserted different disks, and the drive ejected all of them.
