disk read error occurred

I received and error message "disk read error occurred, pressC+A+D to restart"  I do this and it continues to do the same thing.  I ran the OS diagnostics disk and it came up failing 2 areas.  Sorry I cant remember, at work, no other computer at home.  When the computer tries to boot, the HD sounds like a dentist's drill, high pitch whine for a few seconds, then the error message.  I threw in the boot disk, which will run, but it takes me to D: or if in the floppy A:   I am in denial that my HD may be bad. :smileysad: My system is still under warranty.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem last night. I think the HD is dead. Let me know if you find a way to resolve this. I will most likely send my DJ back to Dell.

Chris
