Drag to Disk
I have a new Inspiron 530, came with Vista which I dumped after about 6 weeks.
I have XP SP3 installed. In order to be able to drag to disc on my burners: TSST TS-H493B and TS-H653B I have to “enable” each drive each time the machine is restarted. I think this using Roxio DE 9 that came with the machine.
Is there a way to make that the default?
Thanks

Hi, Timberon:
What do you mean you have to "enable" each drive? Enable it where?
By the way, you're talking to a non-fan of D2D here. But I'll try to help as much as I can.

Inordr to copy anything to either burner I have 2 choices (that I can find).
1 is to let windows format a disk then copy and paste to the burner icon in my computer. Then I have to open the burner file and click burn this file to disk.
OR 2 go to theMy Coumpter>burner (I or J>properties. There on the menu is a choice to enable drag to disk. It works well if the disk is formatted by Roxio. A disk burned by one method cannot be read by the other.
I prefer to use Roxio because it is quicker and more simple. However each time the computer is restarted you must go through the enable process again.
I would love to know of a program that just lets me copy, paste, drag to disk like my old XP machine did.

Both of the methods you describe are using the same Drag-to-disc functionality. XP does not require formatted discs, only D2D. The advantage of D2D is that you can save from any program, in theory. But the host of other problems is causes are, IMHO, not worth the convenience.
In order to use the Windows CD burning wizard, you must uninstall D2D and enable CD recording in drive properties.
