I've tryed disabling the diskette in BIOS. No joy. There's not a 3 1/2 drive on this computer. I'm about down to the point of taking it to the local computer shop since Dell doesn't seem too interested in supporting their stuff.
I would continue to pursue the issue with Dell. In the meantime, try resetting the BIOS defaults, then do the forced re-detect trick. Failing that, I would clear the NVRAM and try again.
