Best Regards

Just spent two plus days trying to recover use of my CD/DVD rom devices to no avail. I downloaded the most recent iteration of KODAK EasyShare software, version 6.0. Somewhere during the installation of it, or the removal of it and using the Kodak "cleareasyshare" utility, which Kodak sent because version 6.0 is apparently "not good" and had to be removed, and reinstallation of version 5.2, which Kodak says to install instead of version 6.0, My drives became inoperable.
Fortunately I finally came here hoping for help and found it. Your info was "spot on" and I had my drives back in about two minutes. THANKS!
Now, for the Windows Restore Utility, I have found that it worked pretty well for the first couple years I had this computer but has ceased to work over about the last 9 mos to a year. Why is that?
It would have been the simplest solution. Is there a forum on WINXP and "system restore?" I guess I'll have to look into this also.
Again, thanks so much for getting me my drives back.

I had the Code 39 error and the only way I could find to resolve it was to restore the system from an earlier backup point.
I have a feeling that this error message is actually a blanket for a variety of issues, but I am not knowledgeable enough to be sure of what, exactly!
Hope this helps.
