dvd does not work

Question

The cd player works fine, but I never realized that it would play DVD's as well.  When I now try and play a dvd using windows media player it will recognize that there is a dvd in the drive and attempts to open sonic cineplayer.  Cineplayer then trys to register and activate but says that we do not have a valid product key.  I do not have a cineplayer or sonic disc (if one came with the computer).  It is a dell demension 1100 and the dvd player is a TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS-H492C.   Please help.  thanks

To play a DVD, the system must have DVD codecs installed.the DVD Decoder software (Cineplayer) supplies them.  Trythe free VLC Media Player here ............... http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Thank you much.  My brother came over last night and that is what he downloaded.  DVD's now work.  Good advice.   josh
