DVD Encoder error on M170

I have a new M170 and did a clean install on XP Media Center. Now I get a DVD Encoder error.

M170
Sony DVD RW Q58A is the model of the drive

Basically I need to know if I should be searching at the Dell site for the encoder file or at Microsoft for the Media Center support.

Any help is much appreciated.

And Yes I have Sonic installed and it won't play the DVD and neither will Windows Media Player

What exactly is the error message?  Which "Sonic" application would that be?

Did you install CyberLink PowerDVD?

Sonic is listed as MyDVD LE

The error message whether I try to play though Windows Media Player or the Media Center feature states:
"DVD Encoder either not found or not compatible"

Power DVD is not part of my package, that I can tell anyway. I have searched the Dell downloads, and the CDs that came with the unit.

You will need to request the DVD Decoder (powerDVD) software
disc from Dell.  PowerDVD supplies the codecs for the other
software to play DVDs.  You do not need to use PowerDVD; you
just need it on your system for the others to function.

Well that blows. Why not include it on the disc they give you. Now I get to waste an hour of my like on the phone.

Yep after 50 minutes on the phone with support I convinced them that they forgot to include the Cyberlink Power DVD CD that was supposed to come with my new M170. Don't let them talk you into downloading it from a website link because it will install unwanted programs. Demand the Cd if you are an XPS owner. My CD arrived in the mail today and all is right with the world.
