DVD WRITER ERROR MESSAGE
My friend has a Dimension E310. When attempting to copy cd's the cd's will at times record yet when played will skip constamtly and are unable to be listened to. yesterday he got the following message F-HL-DT-SF-DVD+-RW GWA4164B "seek, synch, ATIP or mechanical positioning error-Hardware error" Can someone give me an idea as to what may be wrong?

Hi RMA,
Lets verify the drive is at least running in DMA mode and not PIO mode.
Please click on the cD/RW link in my post and scroll to section 15, article 14 & 17.
If this does not help, consider the dEll firmware listed here:
