E521 RAID1

Question

Hello,   i want setup RAID1, by adding e second 320Gb disk. At this time RAID is disabled. I understand there is no simple way to migrate from non raid single disk to  bootable RAID, is that right? So I think about to create an image of the XP Prof. system partition After this I will add the new disk, enable raid in the BIOS setup and create the RAID1 with lost of all data. At least I will restore the image into the RAID1 array.   But will Windows XP system booting?   I have installed  nVidia_MediaShield_A06_R164977.exe But only the storage driver was available for install, not the raid tools.   What do you think, is the way above practicable? Any other tipps? Aside from a clean install, it is about your only option.   Yes it should boot if you installed the raid drivers.   Looks like you have done your homework.

Many Thanks, but I'm fearing the current RAID driver is not installed. At this time nVidia_MediaShield_A06_R164977.exe has installed the SATA driver only.   %windir%\system32\drivers
vraid.sys is still version 6.84 no files from \dell\drivers\R164977\IDE\WinXP\sataraid were installad only the files from \dell\drivers\R164977\IDE\WinXP\sata_ide  are installed at this time.   Maybe the version 6.84 raid driver will suffice to boot XP SP3 in raid mode and I can install cuurent raid driver and Media after that?
