sareith4850,

The drive is bad and it needs to be replaced. The code 7 on Dells 90/90 hdd diagnostic means the drive has exceeded the maximum allowable bad sectors. You will probably be getting a smart error soon if you haven't already got it. Contact Dell Support. Tell them to ship the drive only and not a tech unless you really can't replace the hard drive. Just open the case and find the drive. Disconnect the power and sata connector. Pull the drive, move the rails to the replacement drive and put it back in. Reconnect all cabling. Put the drive back in the box, slap the return label on and tape it shut. Keep the return slip with the tracking number for your records. Now go to http://www.dhl.com/ and schedule a pickup. That is all you have to do. It should take about 10 minutes for you to get your part ordered. Then just refuse a tech and do the work yourself. You can replace the part, and re-package the old drive, and schedule a pickup in less than 10 minutes. Best of all, parts arrive overnight/next day. This means if you order before 5PM, you will get your part the next day.
