Error Code 1000-0146

My girlfriend did an update from dell and now her computer is giving her an error code 1000-0146 that deals with the Start DST: Start test Failed.  Also we are getting an error code 00F0:1344 that says Undorrectable data error or media is write protected.  Any help is appreciated....

The hard drive has failed and needs replacement. Under warranty? Call Dell, report the error and they'll ship a replacement. Out of warranty? Match the drive type (EIDE or SATA) and you can find any number of good drives from newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com.
