ERROR CODE 2000-0142. What does it mean?

Question

Had my hard disk replaced 10 days back with the same error code. The new hard disk is also showing the same error code. Was wondering what it means?  How can a hard disk fail in 10 days?  Is something else like power supply to the hard disk damaging it?

It is a seagate one. 500 GB.

What make/model is the new drive?

Go to the Seagate site and download the Seatools ISO and burn it to a disc. Boot to that and run the hard drive test on your new drive. I find Seatools to be a bit better at identifying hardware problems.
